Viva CalleSJ Comes to Lincoln Avenue
Downtown Willow Glen to Host Events at Southern End of
Scenic Six-mile, Motor Vehicle-free Linear Park
On Sunday, September 18th, 2016 from 10am - 3pm, the City of San Jose will be closing Lincoln Avenue through the heart of Downtown Willow Glen for Viva CalleSJ, a day designed to connect communities by temporarily transforming city streets into safe and fun spaces for thousands of people to bike, walk, skate, jog, dance, and smile. Beginning at Minnesota Avenue and extending along Lincoln Avenue north to San Carlos Street and points beyond, Viva CalleSJ is an unprecedented event bringing together Willow Glen and surrounding communities. Downtown Willow Glen is proud to be an integral part of Viva CalleSJ, and there a number of special events being planned surrounding the route, including food, drink, music, bicycle repair, family activities, and a Sidewalk Market showcasing some of Downtown Willow Glen's finest merchants and eateries. Viva CalleSJ will require closure of streets from Willow Glen to Japantown. The City of San Jose has scheduled four community meetings to inform the affected neighborhoods about the family-friendly activities, street closures, and business and volunteer opportunities that are part of this unique event.
