Vote for the Tastes of Willow Glen Competition

Willow Glen In Motion, your local television show, is holding a Tastes of Willow Glen Competition, and we're asking you to vote for your top three favorite food and beverage establishments within the Willow Glen Business Association! Why? Because as part of Willow Glen in Motion's second season, we want to do a show featuring these businesses. Since there are so many great spots, we've left it up to you, the Willow Glen residents, to decide!

The poll will be on our website through August 6, 2010; the top three businesses will be featured in a Willow Glen In Motion episode. To vote, simply click here. Each household can only vote once, so make sure you tell your friends.

Announcing the Hicklebee's Book of the Year!

Each season, the Hickelebee's staff reads their agreed upon favorites -- ranging from picture books to novels, fiction and non fiction -- to come up with a title that stands out as the one we most want to put into someone's hands -- confident in the pleasure they will get from our choice. We present them at staff meetings, talk about them throughout the days and finally, vote.

We are thrilled to announce that the Spring 2010 Hicklebee's Book of the Year Award goes to The Quiet Book by Deborah Underwood.

The Hicklebee's staff loved this book for its beautiful use of language and its amazing collection of examples and descriptions of the different types of "quiet". It's a seemingly simple book that gives you much to think about and provides perfect illustrations to match! It's appropriate for ages 5 and up, and is also a great writing prompt for older children (and adults!).

To learn more about The Quiet Book and to order it from Hicklebee's online, please click here.
