San Jose Unified School District is pleased to announce that Liliana Gomez, Willow Glen Elementary's 1st Grade Two-Way Spanish Bilingual Immersion Teacher, has been named the California Association of Bilingual Education's 2010 Teacher of the Year! Ms. Gomez, who joined the teaching staff of Willow Glen Elementary in 2008, has taught Spanish bilingual programs in large urban districts for 13 years. Notably, she was part of the planning and implementation process of the Two Way Program, where teachers lead students in learning a second language as they increase their academic knowledge in all areas.

Willow Glen businesses are proud of Ms. Gomez's achievements and are showing their pride by offering specials in her honor on Friday, March 19, 2010. Willow Glen Coffee Roasting Company will be serving the Liliana Gomez Honorary Colombian Roast all day, honoring Ms. Gomez's birthplace; Aqui Cal-Mex will be serving the Liliana Gomez Colombian Special of the Day; Willow Glen Frozen Yogurt Company will be serving Liliana's Special Flavor of the Day; and Bill's Cafe will be serving a "Huevos Liliana" breakfast special all week.
